Because of this she only tends to have a few friends she could consider close and the rest she does keep at a bit of a distance unless something between her and them change. (Open to other players who want to jump in on that) CHILDREN: None Politics LOYALTY/ALLIANCE: Neutral ROLE IN THE WAR: During the war, Morag was very quiet until her friends started to be tortured by the Carrows and she heard of some of her fellow students who where being snatched. She helped whens he could by sending word to some of her fellow Ravenclaws who did not return to Hogwarts about safe places she knew about in the Muggle world that they could turn to. Making sure to get their names to both her parents so they could keep an eye out for them. POLITICAL VIEWS: Morag doesn't get the whole blood purity thing, even though she is a pureblooded witch herself. She believes there has to be a balance that can be found between muggle and wizard relationships because both sides have so much to offer one another and learn from. She grew up learning about the Muggle world from her mother, and does not have a negative opinion about it like many pureblooded wizards and witches. This has started to extend into Morag's opinion about other creatures like Werewolves that where at one point witches and wizards like herself. Especially because many times these people are labeled as 'dangerous criminals' by Minstry, as she sees it only because of their nature rather then who they are when the moon is not full. Appearance OVERVIEW: Morag to the naked eyes is at first a very colorful girl. Her hair is rarely ever the same color from one day to the next, but her eyes always stay the same deep brown color. The only time she puts her hair in a normal color is when its needed for her job, when of course she is not in the office. She is of average height at 5'6" and has an athletic build to her body. Sometimes people tend to mistake her for a Quidditch Player but she keeps herself in good shape because her size is a little smaller then what most would consider for a hit witch. Some of the mannerisms that Morag has often come out when her scarsam does. She rolls her eyes when she thinks something or some one is being a fool. And tends to look people directly in the eye most of the time, which to some can seem a little unnerving when she does it. When she speaks, its not hard to miss that she grew up in Scotland as her accent can be quite thick, espically when she is angry. Her dress changes from day to day, mixing wizard and muggle clothing together at all times. She has a love for muggle sneakers, wearing them all the time saying it helps her run faster. Personality WAND: 9 1/2", Rowan, Unicorn hair, sturdy. BOGGART: Being Alone PATRONUS: A Fox DETAILED PERSONALITY: Most people's first impression of Morag is she's a bit odd. While she never carried the same loony reputation as her fellow housemate, Luna Lovegood, she has always garnered more than a few strange looks. Once the initial shock of her bright appearance wears off, her quick wit and acidic sarcasm are the next thing to shine through. While Morag isn't an intentionally unkind person, she can be a bit grating to those who don't know her well. She tends to keep people at arm's length until she feels like they won't judge her or treat her poorly, which is ironic, because by her very nature and trying to be "different" Morag sets herself up to be judge often. It can be a quite self fulfilling prophecy, and it helps Morag justify her actions. Morag has a definitive love for muggle culture, especially things she relates to from her childhood. Her style of dress is very heavily influenced by muggle fashion, and she enjoys muggle music and cinema. While she will say it is because it has its own merit, truthfully, her love of muggle culture comes from a strong internal desire to please her mother. Below all of her defenses, Morag is actually a quiet and sensitive soul. She is always willing to give her all to a project, friend or lover. She doesn't believe in halfway doing anything and jumps into every project with gusto. Morag is also highly intelligent, and sometimes she worries her brain works differently from other people. She's incredibly intrigued by puzzles, problems and any kind of work that challenges her. She adores a good academic debate and can often become lost in her own world when it comes to a research when searching for criminals. History CHILDHOOD: Morag was the only child born to Artair MacDougal and Lilias Selwyn. She was by all accounts of her grandmother, a perfect baby, however her grandmother was a bit biased, as she was her only grandchild. Morag's parents divorced when she was two, and her grandmother soon moved in. Her mother was absent for most of her childhood due to her job as an unspeakable, so her grandmother became a surrogate mother to her, keeping her during the day when her father was working. One weekend a month her mother saw fit to see Morag, their discussions were always about how Morag was not living up to some unrealistic idea that Lilias had for her, such as why she quit ballet lessons, or why she did not make a perfect score on a test. Morag was a physically awkward child, something that her mother never understood. In reflection, Morag now realizes her mother tried to make her into everything she wished she could have been as a child. The one gift Morag's mother gave her was exposure to the muggle world. Outside of work, her mother lived an almost completely muggle life. Her own family held to the old pureblood beliefs that blood was everything, and Lilias did not find their beliefs to be logical or sound, especially when her best friend all through school was a muggleborn. She rebelled against her family by living in muggle London after she finished Hogwarts with her muggleborn best friend, Alice. While she was not a very good mother, she did try to show her daughter that muggle culture was just as valid as wizarding culture. She took Morag to the cinema, plays, and introduced her to literature. Often their time was spend just walking the streets or taking in events Lysandra enjoyed, including concerts. Morag began emulating the tastes of her mother, desperate for her approval and love. Her relationship with her father could not be any further from her relationship with her mother. Artair loved Morag dearly, and was always proud of her accomplishments throughout her time at Hogwarts. He did spoiled her to a degree, never once telling her no when she wanted to buy a book. To this day, Morag will often come home to find a stack of new books on her bed sent from her father. HOGWARTS. Morag arrived at Hogwarts in 1991, and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Unfortunately, being shy and smart, she seemed to attract the wrath of several “mean girls.” Her first year she was easily driven to tears. In her second year, after a discussion with her grandmother on Christmas break, she slowly began realizing that her response was what drove the bullying, and she began to either ignore her tormentors or simply bite back with a sarcastic comment. By her third year, her outer personality had evolved and it appeared the bullying no longer bothered her, however, she still cried on occasion, just never in public. In her second year, she actually tried out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. She never made it, but came back each year in attempts to try once more. She tried for the same positon each year, which was Seeker, and always came in second to Cho Chang. Which for a long time gave Morag, at least in her own head, a rivalry with her fellow Ravenclaw. That started to extend past just trying out for the team, she pushed herself to be as good as Chang in many of the classes they shared. Morag also started to develop a bit of a strange taste in fashion. She found a book between fourth and fifth year called Strange Beauty that held the secrets of how to charm ones hair wild colors, charm interesting makeup and change your clothing to suit your fancy. The first thing she did when she got on the train to Hogwarts fifth year was charm her hair blue and change the stripes on her tie to alternate the Ravenclaw colors. She got a few strange looks, but she likes being able to be different, especially since her father threw a fit when she showed up at Christmas with red and green hair. As the years passed, tensions grew in the school. Morag felt a bit of conflict as to which side to take, and as such, never joined in the fray until her final year after watching several of her friends being tortured and punished by the Carrows. She was never officially a member of Dumbledore's Army, but she did stay and fight with them during the final battle. In that moment of returning she felt a rush of something that she had never known before, feeling like she was doing something for herself because she had made the choice to stay and fight. To defend her classmates and in turn defend the world she knew. It was a curious feeling that she couldn't define, but reminded her of that pull when she kept trying for the Quidditch team. That need to be apart of something more then just school work. She suffered an injury to her left leg the causes her to limp when the weather turns cold. POST-HOGWARTS. There were many options open to Morag after she finished her schooling. She seriously considered attending healer training, but her mother's influence and her desire to make her proud made her chose to apply for a job with the Department of Mysteries. Due to her high scores, she was hired in the summer of 1998 as a Unspeakable Apprentice. Her love for the unknown and taboo knowledge did intrigue her, but it was not a job that made her happy as her mother never seemed to think what her daughter would do was right. Which seemed to make getting a promotion almost impossible so long as her mother was still part of the department. In in late 2001, her grandmothers health failing, Morag took time off to take care of her in her final days. It was during that time she started to think more about what she wanted to do with herself, and less about what she wanted others. She had let her mother judge her for so long, but hated when others did it. Some of the last words her grandmother spoke her her, was 'Do what you want to do and makes you happy. That is the most important thing in the world.' The next week, Morag resigned from the Department of Mysteries and put in a transfer to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Specifically to start her training to be an Auror as her marks from Hogwarts where high enough to apply for the position. Morag wanted a challenge again in her life, and to do something for herself. Like with Quidditch, she didn't make it through the first few times, having to settle for the time being put into the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department. But every year she would try and try again. In 2003, she applied to be a Hit Wizard instead, hoping that the time spent will give her what she needs to move up eventually to an Auror. Misc. Morag sat at her desk, her feet up on it as she was chewing on the end of her quill as she looked over some of the paperwork from the last case she had been on. She was already growing so very tired of the basic criminal acts that she had seen already. She really wasn't sure why people still attempted to smuggle in various animals or grow plants that where restricted. She fully realized that being the lowest on the totem pole was going to get her sent on those kinds of cases. But she was starting to wonder what she was going to have to do to get something that was going to let her see a little more action. The only time that seemed to happen was when they got so freaked out by being caught that they ran or took flight. The only one she could remember recently was that werewolf they had to take down so close to the full moon. Though she was lucky to even get access to that case as they had needed someone else, because the other Hit Witch on it had been put in St. Mungo's by him the month before and was still healing up. She remembered seeing the man afterwards wondering how he had been able to do so much damage when it looked like he could have easily been someone who the werewolf had hurt. "All-ah want is jist somethin' excitin' tae happen. Is 'at tay much tae ask fer?" Morag muttered under her breath as she scribbled something down onto the paper in front of her. Her eyes rolling at her own inner thoughts, it was a job and not meant to be fun of course. But she wanted to be challenged by it, it was after all why she had gotten into it. She wanted to prove herself, as more then just a brain but that she was dedicated and had what it took to become an Auror. |
